Wedding photography at my own home.

That sounds like a click bait title doesn’t it? Ok let’s rewind a little…

In the mid 1980’s my parents relocated from the outskirts of Birmingham to a semi derelict farm in (what felt like) the middle of nowhere. My childhood was spent watching lambs being born, bottle feeding baby cattle and having the freedom to explore the wilderness of the surrounding woodlands and streams, it was idyllic. Having built the farm up and slowly restored many of the outbuildings, my parents decided that they wanted a different pace of life and sold the farm on to a family who were looking to trial and develop new, sustainable farming methods with the land.

With twenty years passing I was contacted by the grandson of the new owners who told me he was planning his wedding around the farm and had found me whilst researching Worcestershire wedding photography. Would I like to shoot it? It would be a honour…!

This is a great example of one of my shorter coverage options which fits under Package 3: three hours coverage centred around the ceremony. Take a look over the photos and text below to find out more about this amazing day that started at St. Nicholas Church, Dormston and ended in the garden of the house I grew up in.

We took a planned detour to some neighbouring woodland en route to the farm. Moments like this give the bride and groom a little time to take in and reflect on the ceremony and breathe before going on to the party. With all of my smaller weddings (package 3) my ethos is to create the same stand alone ‘Big Wedding’ photos that I would on the longer days and no matter where the ceremony is, we can always find the epic locations with some pre planning.

One of the greatest things about being a Worcestershire wedding photographer is those three degrees of separation that I often have from the people I meet. I often find myself looking twice at someone in the supermarket only to realise that they were a guest at a wedding years ago. You can become very familiar with someone, sometimes without ever having a conversation with them.

Arriving at the farm with fifteen minutes to spare we headed into the fields where I had spent countless hours, the sounds, the smells and the views instantly transported me to a time of adolescence and a sense of home.

The day was just amazing and gave me an insight into the wonderful family who now live in the house where I grew up. Reliving memories as we explored the farm land and garden we a reminder how lucky I’ve been to spend my younger years experiencing life in such a magical setting.

Maybe the title of this post is a little click baity and although I no longer live on the farm, it will always feel like my home.
